Book Review: Getting Noticed on Google by Ben Norman

There are a lot of books on the market for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Internet Marketing.

Truthfully, I have not read very many of them. There is such a wealth of information available on the Internet that I can usually begin learning whatever I want by reading several websites.

However, a few months ago, Michael Schulz of Grand Blanc (Flint Area) suggested that I read a book, called Getting Noticed on Google by Ben Norman.  At the time I talked with him, he indicated that the book did an amazing job of covering a vast amount of information within a small book.  Plus, he claimed that it was not only information packed, but the information layout made it easy to learn, also.

Eventually, I ordered the book and read it, and most of you should, too.

Offsite SEO: Writing Articles

Articles are an essential part of offsite SEO and are a great way to establish yourself and your website.

Article writing used to be more popular.  A lot of people did it, and it became a less effective way to improve your website's standing.  So many Internet gurus downplay it today, and they are right in many ways.

However, marketing your business is really important.  There are many ways to do this, and articles cover several of these.

Spam I am...NOT! Possibly an Upcoming Trend?

I saw a story featured on Yahoo today, and it made me do some thinking and realize some things.  (Article: Man quits job, makes living suing e-mail spammers)

Daniel Balsam hated spam SO much that he quit his job as a marketer, and he studied law, just so he could legally fight against people and places that spam.

Balsam has successfully sued many companies, and so far the defendants have paid over $1 million total.

Make Your Own Gift by Marketing Yourself

Merry Christmas, Everybody!

Hey, everyone.  It makes sense to do what we can to learn how to make money, or at least how to market.

Today, enjoy your time with your friends and family.  It's important that you enjoy it, but you can turn it into passively productive time, too.

Pay attention to what people say.  What things do they wish they had?  What types of things are they going to return?  What are they going to buy with the Christmas money or bonus they might have gotten?  What types of problems do people keep saying that they have?

You can learn a lot about trends in the marketplace just by listening to those who are closest to you.

Then, you need to find a way to represent that solution to their problem.  After you figure out WHAT you need to market, guess what you have to do....That's right!  Market Yourself!

If you master these things, you'll be able to afford any gift that you ever wanted to get yourself or buy for somebody else.  Not everyone knows what great things that you have.  Make it easy for them, and bring yourself to them.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good buy (from you).

Offsite SEO Strategies-Summary

In an earlier post, "Onsite SEO vs. Offsite SEO (Search Engine Optimization)," there are two main ways to make your site more likely to be found on the free side (organic search results) on a search engine: Onsite SEO and Offsite SEO.

To quickly remind you...
  • Onsite SEO is when you adjust YOUR website to make it easier for people to find you.
  • Offisite SEO is when you leave your site to attract people to your site.

This post will focus on Offsite SEO.
